Please double check that you are actually using a local disk (e.g.
"df"). If that's the case, you're likely facing a slow disk
access. I'd say that there's nothing you can be doing wrong to
increase the configuration time. You could disable parts of MPICH
you won't use, such as --disable-cxx --disable-fortran
--disable-romio, but that will help only for the compilation
stage.<br>

me, it's likely due to a network
filesystem. If that's the case,
configuring MPICH in a local filesystem
(e.g. /temp, /tmp, /scratch) should go
back to normal times.<br>
