Regarding https://trac.mpich.org/projects/mpich/ticket/2231...
I still care about this issue and will work on a patch if the MPICH
developers will
(1) evaluate the merits of the proposed options so I know where to start
and where to not bother at all;
(2) figure out a meaningful ABI version scheme and implement it, since the
current code contains "ABIVERSION = 0:0:0", which is not useful.
One of the motivations for this feature require is that MKL ScaLAPACK is
compiled against Intel MPI, OpenMPI and SGI MPT. I would like to be able
to explicitly verify that the libraries compiled against Intel MPI can be
run with MPICH or other derivatives thereof. Obviously, this requires both
sides (the Intel MPI against which MKL is compiler and the user's MPI
library) to support this sort of feature, so the earlier that it is
implemented in MPICH, the earlier I have some hope of using it.
Thanks,
Jeff
