[mpich-discuss] Porting MPICH

Yeah, I would use the abort strategy to detect if MPICH is using
thread-related functions in MPI_THREAD_SINGLE (ignoring
MPICH_ASYNC_PROGRESS=1) and the noop implementation for practical
purposes.
