[mpich-discuss] mpich-3.1.1 compiling error

You should get a libmpifort.dylib on the mac, not a .so file.  Did you use the Intel compiler by any chance?  There seems to be an issue with libtool not understanding the Intel compilers on the mac.

Alternatively, you can try building mpich with the GNU compilers.
