[mpich-discuss] What is the difference between MPI_THREAD_SINGLE and MPI_THREAD_FUNNELED

Is it possible with MPICH that 
MPI_Init_thread(&argc, &argv, MPI_THREAD_FUNNELED, &provided)
sets provided to MPI_THREAD_SINGLE ?
